WHAT IS THYROID MANAGEMENT?

At Madison Integrative Medicine (MIM) we optimize your Thyroid Care with a holistic approach. Approximately 5% of the United States population has hypothyroidism. So, what is hypothyroidism?  It occurs when the thyroid gland is unable to produce enough thyroid hormone to support metabolic functions in the body. These include regulating energy, metabolism, body temperature, body fat, and mental functioning. At MIM we look at all of the thyroid hormones. We measure both T3, T4, Free T3, Free T4, and TSH. We also check thyroid antibodies to assess for Hashimoto’s thyroiditis an autoimmune condition of the thyroid.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism:

Fatigue

Depression

Anxiety

Menstral Irregularities

Dry Skin & Hair Loss

Weight Gain

Muscle & Joint Pain

Cold Body Temperature

Infertility

High Cholesterol

My Doctor will only prescribe me Synthroid or Levothyroxine.

At Madison Integrative Medicine we don’t believe there is only one option for thyroid hormone replacement. Some patients benefit from Synthroid and Levothyroxine therapy alone, however if you are a patient that is unable to convert T4 into T3 you will likely see no benefit from this therapy and potentially worsen. Patients 40 and older quickly lose their ability to convert T4 to T3.

My Doctor says my Thyroid is “Normal”, but I still feel terrible.

We see many people that have been told their lab work is “within the normal range.” Other medical providers can miss the whole picture without the full thyroid hormone panel. Every patient is different, which means everyone’s “normal range” can be different. Our goal is to optimize your thyroid hormone levels.

I’ve been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis; how can we help you?

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks your thyroid and the symptoms of hypothyroidism begin to occur. Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis can be caused from food allergens, toxins exposure, stress, trauma, and dysfunction of gastrointestinal health. We work to correct these issues, optimize your thyroid function, and heal the underlying issue.

How do we correct the issues?

At Madison Integrative Medicine we treat the whole person not just their thyroid. We gather a complete medical history, nutritional evaluation, lifestyle, environmental toxins, and list of your symptoms to design a personalized medical approach.
